The story goes that Coop began when Lauren Connolly and Alexandra Dunn fell in love with the same guy. Tempers flared and hearts were broken. But through the mess of it all, the two designers realised that they shared not only similar tastes, but a common passion and energy.

What could have bred destruction instead created a dynamic fashion collaboration: sassy new womenswear label Coop. The label launched in 2011, debuted at New Zealand Fashion Week just months later and has already been picked up by high-end fashion stores across Australia and New Zealand.

Edgy Coop fashion aesthetic

Now, the opening of the first Coop flagship store at Britomart represents a significant next step for the fledgling designer label. The pop-up shipping container store reflects a gritty industrial aesthetic that sits perfectly with the edgy, slightly raw feel of the collections.

Garments are both sexy and relaxed, exploring texture and shape and injecting shots of colour and print into an often dark palette. Signature touches of leather and metal wrap up the young, streetwise vibe.

The Britomart store is the only place in Auckland carrying the full range, so come and explore the designer container experience – and get some Coop attitude into your wardrobe!
