Bucklands Building

Bucklands Building Bucklands

The construction date of the Bucklands Building is most likely to have been around 1897/8.

The façade of the new building was matched with the 1885 warehouse next door, the Masonic building built by John Buchanan.  The Bucklands section is represented by the last three window bays ending at Gore Street.

A variety of leaseholders followed until 1936 when J. H Buckland & Co Ltd moved their engineering supplies business into most of the building and gave it their name.  From 1936 to 1968 the New Women’s Club (later named the Auckland Women’s Forum) occupied the top floor.
