The façade of the new building was matched with the 1885 warehouse next door, the Masonic building built by John Buchanan. The Bucklands section is represented by the last three window bays ending at Gore Street.
A variety of leaseholders followed until 1936 when J. H Buckland & Co Ltd moved their engineering supplies business into most of the building and gave it their name. From 1936 to 1968 the New Women’s Club (later named the Auckland Women’s Forum) occupied the top floor.
This building has been cleaned out; the services reinstated and is now leased to the following tenants on an interim basis.
This building will be restored as part of the redevelopment of the Britomart Precinct
