Crown for Downtown at Britomart

02 Aug 07

The ‘crown for downtown at Britomart’ was a sold out corporate boxing event with the proceeds donated to two charities. The event eventuated out of light hearted banter between Burton Worth from Aveia in the levy building and Luke Shore from the brew bar in the Northern Steamship.  Burton and Luke had both been training at city boxing, based in the Quay building, when Justin (their trainer) suggested that they should have a ‘spar’.  This then got ‘talked up’ over dinner and a few bottles of wine and the rest is history, as they say! Proceeds of just over $8800 went to help build a gym for Ronald McDonald House Auckland.
Ronald McDonald House Auckland is a national charity and is run by a 100% community-owned charitable trust.
Proceeds of just over $7800 went to NZ Amateur Boxing and will be used to help cover the costs of sending a select team to compete in the ‘Queensland golden gloves titles’ in August.
