When you’re out and about for lunch, most days you just want something quick, satisfying and good for you, without it costing a packet. Step up Sarge, former purveyor of fine pies, now delivering a changing menu of simple, light, delicious lunches.

Every day there are five sandwich fillings and two or three salads. Ingredients avoid the obvious and tend towards the innovative – ras el hanout-spiced pumpkin, tuna with green olive tapenade, slow-roasted lamb, tarragon mayonnaise – averting jadedness of palate for even daily lunchers.

Extras include home-baked cookies and smoothies, and first thing in the morning, Sarge serves filled breakfast rolls and L’Affare coffee to kick-start your day.

Fine fast food and atmosphere

All this daily goodness is served up from the back of a mint 1973 Airstream Overlander, imported from Arizona and lovingly refurbished. Parked in the centre of Britomart, the caravan has its own little Astroturf lawn and shaded picnic tables.

It’s a great spot to hang out, with Vodafone wi-fi and a steady stream of local movers and shakers passing through. Worth visiting daily!
