Takutai Square

IN THE HEART OF BRITOMART LIES TAKUTAI SQUARE, THE PRECINCT’S MAIN PUBLIC GATHERING PLACE AND AVAILABLE TO HIRE AS A PUBLIC OR PRIVATE EVENT VENUE.

Takutai Square is the main public space of the Britomart precinct. It has been the focus of many public and private events including music gigs, open air cinema screenings, family activities and functions.

The square fronts Gore Street and leads into new shopping gallery Atrium on Takutai, which runs from the square between the Ernst & Young Building and Westpac on Takutai Square.

Takutai Square is currently partly occupied by a 22 x 22-metre square of grass, informally known as Takutai Lawn. In the south-eastern corner of the square is the Pipi Beds sculpture and ‘pop jet’ fountain installation.

Takutai Square is available to hire as an event venue.
