IT WAS AN AWESOME DAY OUT – GREAT WEATHER, EXCELLENT ENTERTAINMENT, SEVERAL HUNDRED SMILEY PEOPLE AND LOTS OF LOVELY CASH RAISED FOR CHRISTCHURCH!

More than 100 up-for-it teams turned out on Sunday 29 May and ran, walked, skipped and even cartwheeled around the block for Britomart Block Benefit. Punters of all ages, fitness ability and fashion sense participated and plenty more came and cheered them on.

More than $33,000 was raised for the Red Cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal through a mixture of sponsorship and donation. One of the more than 20 Les Mills teams, the Les Mills International Work Horses, took the team fundraising prize with a total of $4000 raised.

In between blocks, runners and supporters alike enjoyed a great day’s entertainment, from the Les Mills Sh’Bam team warming up the crowd to the aerial artistry of the Red Bull BMXicans.

The Les Mills RPM stationary bike crew tag-teamed for sponsorship and the Subway Pro Cycling team went hard out on their wind trainers for the whole three hours – respect!

The day was MCed by ZM DJ Jay Reeve and Canty heroes the UC Volunteer Army were out flying their hometown flag. Actress Lucy Lawless, Breaker Kirk Penney and former All White Noah Hickey also lent some of their star magic to the day.

Some awesome prizes were raffled off, including Nike product packs, Les Mills gym memberships, Giant bike vouchers and vouchers for Britomart bars and restaurants.
