Coop Launches Britomart Flagship Store with 'Pop-Up' Fashion Parade
Sassy newcomer on the fashion scene Coop has opened a pop-up shipping container store in the centre of the Britomart precinct, next to Kathryn Wilson on Te Ara Tāhuhu Walking Street.
The flagship boutique for the hot new designer fashion label – whose trademark look is sexy, streetwise glamour – is the only store in Auckland to carry the full Coop collection.
Coop is launching the store with a ‘COOP Pop Up Parade’, to be held in Takutai Square on Tuesday 20 December. Fashion shows will be held at 12.30 and 1.30pm, showcasing pieces from the Coop Summer 2011 collection.
Entitled Badlands, the collection is inspired by ‘a wild journey into a desert of cracked earth, wild red sunsets, ancient spirits and voodoo spells’.
Raw textures such as metal, suede and shredded fabric are mixed with distressed prints, dirty metallics and bleached, dusty tones spiked with citrus and turquoise.
The edgy aesthetic of the label itself is reflected in the gritty industrial feel of the new pop-up store. The containers retain many relics of their past life, including doorway bolts and hooks and the stained raw timber floors.
Continuing the recycling theme, patchwork vinyl stickers decorate the walls and shelves are made from old crates.
Coop is an exciting new addition to the emerging Britomart fashion precinct, whose designer fashion offering is set to grow significantly in 2012.
