Free fashion shows

On Saturday 3 March Britomart and Westpac will present The Fashion Collection at Britomart, four free fashion catwalk shows being held as part of the 2012 New Zealand Fashion Festival.

Taking place at Atrium on Takutai, the shows will feature the Winter 2012 collections from Britomart retailers Kathryn Wilson, Zambesi, WORLD and Kate Sylvester.

Fashion lovers will also get a preview of the latest collections at New Zealand fashion gallery Curate and new ranges at Ted Baker and Made. Also on the catwalk will be new label Georgia Alice by Georgia Currie, winner of the 2011 Westpac Young Designer Award.

A streetwear show will highlight collections just hitting the racks at Britomart stores Co-Lab, Onitsuka Tiger, Nike Britomart and Timberland Britomart.

Makeup will be by resident Britomart beauty experts M.A.C Cosmetics and hair by Ryder, who will be moving to the precinct in May.

‘Fashion in the Big Little City’ day

On Saturday 3 March, Big Little City will also take fashion to the streets for the day with its ‘Fashion in the Big Little City – Brought to You by Resene’ event. There will be in-store offers and promotions – discounts, gifts with purchase, special activities – at shops throughout the city, including Britomart’s fashion boutiques.

Fashion lovers are invited to dress up and hit the town for their chance to be snapped ‘Best Dressed in the Big Little City’ and win a range of cash prizes. Prizes of $1000 will be awarded in categories including Best Cool Casual, Best Dressed Woman, Best Dressed Man and Best Dressed Kid.

The winners will be announced at a finale event at Britomart’s Atrium on Takutai, taking place at 3.30pm on Saturday 3 March. There will be an awards ceremony hosted by Nick D, with entertainment by Peter Urlich and the opportunity for winners to strut their stuff on the catwalk.

So get dressed up, grab the girls and make a day of it at Britomart. Do a spot of shopping, have lunch somewhere stylish, catch a free fashion show, go for cocktails… hey, stay and make a night of it!

New Zealand Fashion Festival

Since its launch in 2010, the New Zealand Fashion Festival has become an important fixture on the Auckland fashion calendar. Run by the people behind New Zealand Fashion Week, the Festival has captured the hearts of fashion followers with its inclusive approach and focus on accessible, in-the-shops-right-now collections.

This year the Festival runs from 24 February to 4 March, and will include ticketed catwalk shows at Shed 10 on Queens Wharf as well as free fashion events around the city. Also part of the Festival is the Designer Garage Sale, taking place at Shed 10 on the weekend of 3-4 March.

$5 parking special for Fashion Festival

If you’re coming down for The Fashion Collection – or any of the Fashion Festival shows at Shed 10 – the easiest place to park is Britomart Car Park. It’s located on the corner of Quay Street and Britomart Place, immediately opposite the east entrance to Atrium on Takutai and just a short walk from Queens Wharf.

Britomart Car Park is offering a $5 parking special for the duration of the Fashion Festival (Friday 24 February to Sunday 4 March). A flat rate of $5 applies on weekdays after 6pm and all day Saturday and Sunday.
