Free Trains and Buses to Rugby at Eden Park and North Harbour Stadiums


New Zealand’s national provincial rugby competition, the ITM Cup, kicks off on 14 July. The competition will run till the finals weekend of Saturday 3 September, just days before the start of the Rugby World Cup.

Auckland and North Harbour home games throughout the competition will be held at Eden Park and Albany’s North Harbour Stadium respectively.

The first Auckland game will be held at Eden Park on the afternoon of Sunday 17 July, with North Harbour hosting its first game in Albany on Tuesday 19 July.

For those attending ITM Cup matches in Auckland, Britomart is the free transport gateway for games at both Eden Park and North Harbour Stadium.

Travel on trains and special event buses from Britomart Transport Centre is free with match ticket or stadium season pass three hours before the game. Free transport will also be available after the game.

Games at North Harbour Stadium

Train services into Britomart will connect with special Northern Express bus services to North Harbour Stadium. These bus services run approximately every 10 minutes before and after the game.

Buses to the stadium depart from stop D1, outside the Downtown Shopping Centre on Customs Street West, and travel to Albany Station. From there it’s a comfortable 10 -15 minute walk to North Harbour Stadium.

Normal Britomart-Albany bus services also run during the match period, but will not be offering free travel. Read more on the MAXX website

Games at Eden Park

In addition to normal train services, there will be special event trains running approximately every five minutes from Britomart to Eden Park (Kingsland Station) before and after the games. All rail travel to and from the games is free with a match ticket or stadium season pass.

There will also be special event bus services from Britomart to Eden Park, departing from Stop D9 on lower Queen Street. Read more on the MAXX website
