Generator Gearing Up As Business Base For World Cup Visitors
Britomart is already being seen as a key hospitality hub for Auckland during the upcoming World Cup, thanks to its prime CBD location and its concentration of restaurants, bars and function venues.
But those busy few weeks in September and October of this year won’t just be about partying – there’ll be an awful lot of business being done downtown too.
Businesses of all sizes, from small local enterprises to global corporates, will be seeking to meet, network, build partnerships and strengthen relationships as the attention of the rugby-playing world focuses on New Zealand.
Members’ club and business centre Generator is preparing to welcome a significant number of visiting business people wanting to stay connected as they travel.
“People travelling to Auckland on business around the Rugby World Cup need to be able to remain in contact with their teams and clients,” says Generator founder and director Ryan Wilson.
“At Generator we’ve got desk space, wi-fi, fully equipped meeting rooms, all the latest teleconferencing technology, full secretarial and PA support – people can just plug in and work.
“But it’s not only about the mechanics of being able to keep working. It’s also about having a comfortable base where you can host clients and potential clients – and do it in style.”
Workspaces and function venues
The Britomart-based club is ideally located in the heart of the Auckland CBD and just a couple of blocks from Queens Wharf, the city’s largest official Fanzone. As well as private workspaces and hot desks, Generator has a luxurious members’ lounge and bar and a range of beautifully designed meeting and function rooms.
Membership options range from casual, which gives a guest access to the bar and lounge facilities, meeting rooms, reception and introduction services, accompanied access for four visitors and 500MB wi-fi data a week, to the full ‘Home From Home’ membership.
In addition to the standard membership benefits, Home From Home gives a member their own exclusive desk and office space and up to 1GB of wi-fi data access.
Memberships are structured as a set-up fee plus a modest weekly fee, with printing and additional data access charged as expenses. Both members and non-members are eligible to book Generator’s private function areas, including the Library and the Square, both spacious rooms with waterfront views.
“Because there’s so much flexibility in the range of facilities and services we offer, we’re expecting a diverse range of guests during the Rugby World Cup,” says Ryan. “They’re likely to range from small business owners and salespeople right up to senior executives of global companies. We’re hoping we’ll see plenty of locals too, as well as overseas visitors.”
