Social Kitchen Open to Everyone This Week

Fisher & Paykel’s ‘Social Kitchen’ installation, created for Urbis Designday 2011, is open for the public to visit, explore and enjoy every day this week from 10am to 4pm.

The exhibition, housed in a converted shipping container and specially engineered outdoor space, is designed to give people a new perspective on the traditions embedded around our favourite room in the house – the kitchen.

It is the result of a creative collaboration between Fisher & Paykel, Alt Group and furniture designer Sam Haughton of IMO.

Everyone is invited to stop by, visit the showroom and enjoy a free cup of specially brewed gingernut tea with Earl Grey biscuits (really!). Or you might just want to escape the office lunchroom and eat your own lunch at the communal Social Kitchen tables.

You can also join Fisher & Paykel and the legendary team from Kohu Road Ice Cream for free tastings of their delicious flavours this coming Saturday 26 March, from 9am to 1pm.

Urbis Designday took place on Saturday 20 March and was a ticketed event featuring 13 unique design installations around Auckland. Read more about it at www.urbismagazine.com/designday.
