Triathlon World Cup Takes Over Streets of Downtown this Sunday
This Sunday 20 November around 1200 elite and age group athletes take to the streets of downtown for the ITU Triathlon World Cup.
The event will feature a world-class field of elite athletes competing for Olympic qualifying points,and also incorporates anage group selection race for the New Zealand World Champs 2012 team.
There’ll be plenty of run-cycle action along the Quay Street side of Britomart all day, so it’s a great place to come and hang out, enjoy the cafes, bars and shops and cheer the competitors on.
Age group races from 7am
The age group selection race kicks off at 7am and will involve around 1100 New Zealand age group athletes.
The course involves a swim circuit between Queens and Captain Cook Wharfs, followed by a bike circuit from Queens Wharf along Quay Street, The Strand, up through Parnell and Orakei and back along Tamaki Drive and Quay Street.
Competitors will transition again at Queens Wharf to the run circuit, which loops around Viaduct Harbour, around Wynyard Point, and back to Queens Wharf.

Elite races from 12pm
The elite women’s and men’s races start at 12pm and 2.45pm respectively. The swim circuit will also between Queens and Captain Cook Wharfs.
The elite bike course involves five laps of a circuit that goes from Queens Wharf to just past Giant Auckland on Quay Street, back along Quay Street and up Queen Street, looping around via Shortland, Princes, Bowen, Victoria, Wakefield, Mayoral, Albert and Customs Street West.
The elite run course is four laps of a course from Queens Wharf along Quay Street to Tangihuia Street, back along Quay Street and up Queen Street and back.

Road closures and parking restrictions
The following downtown roads will be closed between 4am to 7pm on Sunday 20 November, with strictly no access to vehicle or bike traffic.
Quay Street– between Lower Albert Street and Tangihua Street
Customs Street– between Lower Albert Street and Commerce Street
Queen Street– between Quay Street and Mayoral Drive
Albert Street– between Victoria Street West and Customs Street West
Shortland Street– between Queen Street and Princes Street

Queen Street– between Quay St and Mayoral Dr

Albert Street– between Victoria Street West and Customs Street West
Shortland Street- between Queen Street and Princes Street
Britomart Car Park open
Britomart Car Park will remain fully accessible from the Britomart Place entrance throughout the weekend, accessed via Beach Road or Anzac Ave.
Britomart Car Park is also offering a special maximum parking rate of $10 all day on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 November.
