Vodka, Time Travel and Seventies Science
Vodka, Time Travel and Seventies Science
Proof that drinking at Britomart can be a truly inspirational experience: it was over a few at a Britomart bar that Oliver Driver and Shane Bosher came up with their latest boundary-breaking theatre project.
Fresh from innovative shows The Threepenny Opera and Thom Pain, the two Silo Theatre heavyweights were on the hunt for a new idea to push the audience experience even further.
It was obvious that many, many people flock to bars, but to the theatre… not so many. Then came the epiphany: why not bring the proverbial mountain to the audience?
Billed as a ‘brand, spanking new theatre experience, paying homage to the educational programmes of the 1970s’, Did I Believe It? takes an irreverent, ostensibly informative look at the history of vodka. It will be performed in the main bar at 1885 Britomart, with a three-week run from 9 to 30 April.
The story came out of what might seem an unlikely partnership between Silo Theatre and 42Below. The two organisations bonded over their shared passion for ‘breaking boundaries, being original and fiercely Kiwi’.
Written by Oliver Driver and Jodie Molloy of The Jaquie Brown Diaries, Did I Believe It? assembles a stellar cast of comic actors, including Adam Gardiner (Eagle vs Shark), Toni Potter (Ruben Guthrie), Brett O’Gorman (Toys) and Dean O'Gorman (The Almighty Johnsons).
